Fecal exams?

Do you ask about annual fecal exams and have you come across many people that state they don't do them? In my profile, I express that like vaccinations, fecal exams are important to me. My dog is always kept up to date to ensure no parasites. Recently, I found out a few of the pet-parents who vaccinate, did not have annual fecal exams done, and were reluctant to do so. After I expressed it as a requirement to one pet-parent (a former pet-sitter) who made an inquiry with me, the person learned that her dog had parasites. A few dogs I recently met that were going to doggy day care/boarding facilities were also infected. Here's a link that explains why this topic may be of interest to others: http://www.pethealthnetwork.com/dog-h...

I'm sure it doesn't hurt to ask! You need to know everything about the dog as much as possible really so in emergencies you can answer all these important questions to your fun knowledge. If they aren't interested or simply haven't tell them that you are certified to do so and update them on information about the normality of the feces. Remember to be polite and patient and to never force a customer to do something they don't want. I hope this helps! Good luck!

Of course, I don't force pet owners to take any actions. I will decline their business rather than risk contagious parasites (to both humans&dogs). It's important part of determining if we are a match, not just 4 fun. I'm interested in knowing if & how often other sitters may be experiencing this.
