FLORIDA GEORGIA FLU?

Certain vets in my area are NOT taking the dogs with the new H3N2 through the front door. You need to call ahead.

Boarding is now limited as is daycare

Is anyone who is offering day care at their home aware of this?? and what precautions are you taking?

I currently only drop in and walk. I wear rubber shoes and carry lysol and purell. This virus is easily transferrable. Both my clients started the series of the 2 step vaccine.

Sharing bowls, toys, etc. is being heavily discouraged. FYI

I don't offer daycare, only boarding. However, we've been through a couple major outbreaks here and your precautions (protective covering, Lysol, etc.), are exactly what the shelters here were doing. I'm pretty sure most, if not all, commercial daycare facilities shut down during these periods.

Since I board and didn't want to put my own dog at risk, I only accepted dogs I knew were homebodies and not in regular contact with lots of other dogs. None of my boarders ever went to a commercial daycare center or a dog park. During the outbreak, I kept all my charges away from other dogs: no romping around in the park or congregating on corners.

Good luck!
