Do most of you ask the dog owner to provide poop bags or do you typically provide those?

I am new to http://Rover.com and my first client has asked me if I provide poop bags. I told her I would since they are my first client. Sort of a token of my appreciation. What do most of you tell your clients?

For my dog walking clients I always have poop bags in my car that I can easily clip onto my belt loop if they don't provide them, but honestly most of my clients have their own bags clipped on the leash already and I will use theirs. If it looks like theirs is low or they haven't purchased refills I'll go ahead and use mine, I get them cheap on amazon so honestly it's not a huge cost to me to use my own.

I'm a full time walker and provide my own poop bags, and I always use my own leashes with my clients

I only board dogs and I supply the poop bags. I have never asked owners to bring them with, although a number have included them in the travel bag or have the holder attached to their dog's leash.

I really can't imagine a dog walker not considering poop bags a basic supply to have on hand at all times. Poop bags are a business expense you can deduct for tax purposes. I have never needed to buy them because my neighborhood gets barraged continually by restaurant flyers in long plastic bags that are hung on every doorknob, gate or post. Whenever they're distributed, I go out with a tote bag and fill it up, recycling the ad material. They're perfect for my size dog. Newspaper sleeves are also a good source. Where I live, stores no longer give out plastic shopping bags and there's a tax if you need one, so my collection of those is drying up.

Hi Lisa:

I do mostly drop ins and walks, and i also house sit. All of my clients provide me with poop bags (I never have to ask), but I do use my own too. I always have poop bags on me, and I also carry other bags, like plastic grocery bags - which come in handy when walking multiple dogs from one client (I put the poop bags into the plastic grocery bag....then dispose when we return to the client's home). I like Amazon Basics and wait until they go on sale to purchase. Alternative bags: plastic grocery store bags, bagel bags, and news paper sleeves are what I use.

My clients usually provide them (they are a bit spendy) but I also have a roll because things get forgotten when packing pets and family for vacation.
