Why does my old dog pee in the house?

Why does my old dog pee in the house? He's been potty trained since he was a puppy. Should I take him to the vet?

Comments

Dogs, like people, when they age don't have control over their bodily functions as well. He may need to go out more frequently than when he was an adult. Or he may need a doggy diaper. Amazon sells potty bands in packs for a decent price. Best to air on the side of caution and see the vet.

The only thing I would add to Aubrey's comment is that older dogs can go senile, and therefore can get confused about what they're supposed to do; even if it's a very basic activity they've understood since puppyhood. Again, a visit to the vet is going to be the best way to diagnose and find the appropriate treatment.
