Because of high demand, sitters have the ability to raise their rates during holiday periods like the 4th of July. However, not all sitters do. When you are selecting a sitter, be sure to click on "Additional Rates & Services" in their Profile to see their holiday rates, which might kick in for:

Memorial Day: May 26–May 29
4th of July: July 3–July 4
Labor Day: September 1–September 4
Thanksgiving: November 20–November 25
Christmas and New Years: December 19–January 1

Also, if there are other, particularly busy periods, a sitter could have holiday rates for holidays not shown on the above list.

Rover is very clear in their rate policy regarding Holiday's. If a sitter has quoted a different rate for day's designated as 'holidays' then the entire booking will be charged at the holiday rate. We have no idea what the justification for this 'Rover' policy is other than to make more money.

I'm sure none of us mind paying more for holiday services, but for an extended booking of almost a month that might span one day designated as a holiday, but to pay the holiday rate for the entire duration seems somewhat excessive.
