As a dog walker, do you meet the owner beforehand? Also, do you bring your own leash and/or harnesses to walk the other persons dog, or do the owners provide these things?

I am wondering if you meet dogs you are supposed to walk at their door, or if you do a meet and greet in public first. Also, wondering what I should bring to be prepared to walk the dog.

Hi, Elece! I always set up a Meet & Greet in advance of the reservation, that way you can become acquainted with and learn more information about the dog(s) you'll be walking with. I always meet the client at their home, that way I can see where their belongings are kept. I do normally have a supply of poop bags, a towel in case it rains, a pet first aid kit, and a spare collar and leash in my car in case I need them. So far, all of my clients have supplied their own harness and leash.

I always bring my own leash, just in case. Many owners like to use those retractable leashes, and they are just horrible at controlling the dog.
