Can you book for a partial day on Rover?

I don't need a full day on the first night I'll be gone. Can you book for just one visit on that day and three on the others?

It really depends on the sitter. Every sitter on Rover is independent and sets his/her rates and rules. Every "night" of a booking is good for up to 24 hours of care, with the clock starting when you drop off your dog. Let's say that you drop off your dog at 5 pm on a Thursday and have booked 3 nights. You then have until 5 pm on Sunday to pick up your dog. Because everyone on Rover works for themselves, you may find many variations on this.

Sitters do have the ability to customize their billings, so just ask the prospective sitter(s) if a partial day charge is possible.

I believe you're asking about drop in visits or walks - not boarding or house sitting. For drop in visits I don't believe that Rover yet has the ability to offer different numbers for different days. I would communicate with the sitter for how to best work around this, but some common options are

  1. book it as if there are 3 visits each day, but the sitter modifies the price so that only 1 visit is charged the first day.

  2. book it as 2 separate bookings. 1 booking for the single drop-in, and another booking for the 3 drop ins.

Just be clear of your expectations for the sitter and make sure you understand how you're being charged before accepting the booking! It's very common for people to not need the same number of visits every day of their trip, so this is something that I believe Rover is working to address.
