I use the ginger base Gravol and give the human dosage. These are mostly natural, non-drowsy and safe. I give it to the dog about an hour and a half before the car ride and again as we get in the car. After a few times of not being sick in the car, most dogs do not require the Gravol anymore. Make sure you are giving them the ginger one and not the regular one. http://gravol.ca/en/products/natural-source/gravol-%C2%AE-natural-source-ginger-liquid-gel-capsules/?cat=42 (http://gravol.ca/en/products/natural-...)

Always consult a vet before starting a new medication; even something 'natural' or otherwise innocuous sounding things (remember, cyanide, arsenic, and formaldehyde are all 'natural') may not be recommended based on your pet's general health, other medications, or particular issue.

You can also help desensitize him to car rides by taking short trips, avoiding excessive curves and hills (and taking them slowly when you can't avoid them), avoiding feeding within an hour or so of travel, and keeping a window open for a cool breeze. My girl used to get carsick all the time, but it improved a lot with desensitization and improving her overall health.
