Why does my dog smell like dirty socks?

With a dog’s rich sense of smell, I would imagine it’s a bit like viewing a photograph album for humans. https://dogcomicstrip.blogspot.com/2020/05/socks.html

This is an easy one, dogs love everything that smell and taste like bodily fluids or waste. So they love chewing on items that have any sort or residue like socks, diaper, panties, used tissues of feminine hygiene products. If you have one of those dogs that can't resist these things, make sure the dog does not have access to them since they can actually swallow the items which can cause intestinal obstructions which can be very dangerous if not fatal. If you suspect your dog has ingested a sock or pantie, call your vet and see what they say.

Based on this limited information, it's possible that this smell may be due to an infection. Please contact your vet.
