It happens! Trying adding salmon or fish oil to their food and it will help with their dry skin!

Dry skin can cause dandruff also depending on the dog shampoo you use, you can also be contributing to the dry skin! Ask your vet for a good dog shampoo that helps with dry skin and dandruff!

Dandruff is more or less a layman's term for sebhoreic dermatitis. It can happen in dog's for many of the same reasons it happens in humans. Most often, however, what looks like " dandruff" in dogs is often dry, flaking skin. Mild infrequent cases can be treated with increased grooming, using only gentle, hypoallergenic pup shampoos, and even massaging organic coconut oil into your pets coat prior to brushing, once or twice a week. Some breeds are more prone to this, particularly short/thinner furred dogs. You should regularly examine your pet for signs of a more serious skin condition however, and if any open sores, hotspots or redness accompanies this condition, have the pup seen by his vet.

dry skin. I usually bath them in oatmeal to stop irritation since scratching can cause dandruff. Just do it once of week. If that doesn't help you anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner should also do the trick . Your last resort is taking them to the vet but one of these has to work or a combination of both. Just make sure the oatmeal is plain.

Dandruff is a sign that your dog's coat is dry. This is often the result of using shampoos with harsh ingredients or of over-washing. Be sure to use a shampoo with oatmeal or chamomile to soothe and nourish your dog's skin. Likewise, to avoid over-washing, do not wash your dog more than once per month (except in special circumstances or as advised by your veterinarian). If your dog frequently dirties his paws or his face, you can purchase dog cleaning wipes at any pet store for spot cleaning in between washes!
