Can I give my dog benadryl to calm him down?
My dog often gets hyper-active and I am wondering if I can give him benadryl to calm him down. What do you guys do about excited dogs?
I think the recommended dosage is 1mg per lb of body weight, but that is more for anxiety than hyperactivity. The best thing for hyperactivity is to tire your dog out by going on a walk or playing fetch. You can also buy dog puzzle toys that make them work to get treats if you need to keep them busy. or get a kong and fill it with peanut butter.
