If you have a heavy chewer, you have to directly supervise or make sure the dog has no access to anything you dont want chewed. Make sure the dog has plenty of toys of all sort of textures to chew on, redirect to an appropriate item when he chews something you don't want him to chew. Repeat, repeat repeat.

A tired dog is a good dog. Up the exercise your dog gets in a day and make sure they have plenty of toys they can chew. Also check out how your dog is feeling. Chewing can be a sign of anxiety or nervousness in a dog.

Toys meant for chewing are a great option. You can even praise your dog by giving him treats or extra attention when he is chewing on the right things! We also use a No Chew spray that we put on things we really didn't want him to chew on (like cabinets). It tastes bitter but is harmless to dogs! Works like a charm!
