Eating plants, would be included in the definition of Pica (eating non-nutritional items) and can be common. Sometimes it's done out of boredom, or for chewing pleasure (as an extension of puppy chewing), or can signal a nutritional imbalance. Houseplants may serve the dog's desire to graze (if you had grass indoors they may choose that). Since many plants can be toxic to dogs and eating these objects can lead to digestive upset, this is an activity you'd want to stop.
