Why is my dog licking his paws?

Some licking is natural grooming. Excessive licking can signal allergies, an imbedded foreign object (such as bee stinger), or pain due to an infection or cyst, or just boredom/stress.

It's possible he could have some Type of discomfort from allergies or a thorn/debris , it could also be an indication of arthritis or that something in the paw is hurting as well as he could just be cleaning his feet .
