How does the Availability Calendar work for different services?

All of my boarding slots are filled from now until Easter. I have a new client that contacted me (while I was boarding her dogs for the the first time) about possibly re-booking a few days after this current booking ended because they just found out they need to go to a family funeral far away in a couple days. I told her I couldn't because I was completely booked. I felt terrible having to turn her down. I might have done it if she had just one dog but she had two and one of them was a huge, unruly Weimaraner puppy.

When she came to pick up her dogs she said "Well I looked at your availability calendar it shows you still have room." I could tell she thought I was either lying or snubbing her (she knows the puppy is difficult, she was very open about him at the meet & greet).

I looked at my Calendar that allows me to adjust how many openings I have and all my boarding slots are set to zero. However my dog walker slots are all open (I don't do day care or house sitting).

I'm thinking if she had done a regular search for her boarding dates I probably would not have come up in the results but since she was able to look at my profile because of the current boarding it looked to her like I had Availability because those dates were not greyed out because of my Dog-Walker availability.

Doesn't it seem like the Availability Calendar that clients can see should reflect that difference ?

One issue with a client looking at your availability is if you offer multiple services and have slots available for that service your calendar shows green even if another service is fully booked. To see true availability you have to hover over a specific date and that shows the service(s) that are available. It's a pain, but its what we have for now. I believe Rover is looking to enhance the calendar, but there is no time line yet.

That's what I was afraid of... I get it that the 'enhanced' calendar is a pretty monumental programming task but in the meantime Rover could at least add a couple lines of text above the calendar explaining how to hover over the date to see which services the Sitter/Walker actually has available.

On pc it will show what specific service is available. NOT on tablet or phone. It simply shows green.

I know you were probably trying to spare her feelings but I would have told her that since you had other clients already booked, you don't think her puppy would have gotten along with them...which would have been closer to the truth...

Sorry but I will have to take issue with your entire comment. #1 I am looking at it on a PC. It is green. You can hover for more info but it is green. #2 The TRUTH is that I am booked solid til Easter. So DON'T call me a liar.

Riiiiiiiight so on PC it shows green which means you're available, so if she looked at it online that's what would make her think you're available. Because it's green. On tablet and phone you can't "hover" for details. It will show green and you can't click on anything to show more details.

I'm sorry if you thought I called you a liar. You said "I might have done it if she had just one dog but she had two".... it seemed the real issue was the QUANTITY of dogs. Because if you're booked solid, you wouldn't have considered doing one dog. Full means 0 additional dogs

The whole point of the question was pointing out the issue of the Calendar being solid green so why the heck would you respond by telling me the calendar is solid green?? SMDH I have it within my discretion to take an additional dog if I am full. Who do you think sets my rules??
