Because that is how Rover helps new sitters get their first jobs, i.e., by putting them at the top of the search results. I don't know how long they get that preferential treatment, but that's the way they've designed their algorithm.

Ive tracked it and it seems they get pushed to the top the first month then slowly drops in second month. Usually by then theyve built up their client base and they settle into the middle of the pack

The previous poster was correct. Rover gives new Sitter's a boost when they first begin, to help them get started.

As for your other question, that's really up to you. Only you know what would be in your best interest.
For me, I am getting a bit overwhelmed and so I have limited my calendar and will most likely be limiting myself to my current clients until I can feel a bit rested.

I hope the best for you,
