Why do my dogs ears smell?

This is a question that we often get from sitter and owners who work with Rover. Help the community out by answering them in our forum!

It could very well be they have a ear infection. Signs beside smell could be scratching their ear, shaking of their head, off balance, redness, brown, yellow or bloody discharge from ear. If you suspect something is wrong of course always consult your veterinarian.... Hope this helps you and your dog...

There is nothing quite like the ripe smell of infected dog ears for clearing a room! And when it's your dog that's the culprit, there is little else you will be able to focus on until you have at least gotten a handle on what the problem is and how to deal with it. You can clean them with dog ear cleaner but a trip to the vet may be in order in case their is a real infection or mites.
