Is there such a thing as too many updates?

I am new to rover and I love the idea of easily sharing photos and updates with the app and messaging system. I was wondering if it was possible to provide too many updates or share too many pictures? I do not mind giving a lot of updates but at the same time I do not want to bombard a client with too many updates? What is your guys' experience with this? How many updates do you guys give? Is a picture (or multiple) twice a day with a longer update at the end of the day too much? Help!

I always promise owners I'll update them once a day including a picture, but typically I update them twice (morning and night) as I find if I don't then they tend to contact me asking how the night went. I have a few super needy clients and they get updates every few hours, and some who really couldn't care less so I don't contact them as often. Really it's about getting to know your clients and what they want. I always ask if there's a time zone difference I need to be aware of if they're traveling out of state, and ask if they prefer updates sent through rover or to their personal phone (as sometimes they don't have wifi or don't have cell service).

As a client I like as many updates and pictures as I can get, so I tend to send out more than one update a day. Every time we do something noteworthy (trip to dog park, walk, visit with new people, take the dog shopping, etc.) I will update with a picture or two and a quick note. I think too many updates is better then too few, If I don't get an update I'm expecting, I get worried.

I try to read the client at the m&g and let them know then how often I plan to send photos and updates depending on what I perceive is their interest level. Some are very needy and want more, others every couple days. Time zone differences very good to point out. If they're in Europe do they want a bunch of photos at 2 a.m. when it's dinner time at home?

I've never had a client complain about receiving too many updates or pictures. The number I send can vary based on whether the dog is a repeat customer or the length of the stay.

With new dogs, I will provide more updates and pics. I had one client message me continually and the dog hadn't even been at my place for more than a few hours. But she appreciated knowing everything that I was doing to help her dog get acclimated to its new surroundings.

My general rule is, with repeat customers, especially with lengthier stays, I might only touch base with the owner and send pics every other day or so. New owners get a daily update and pics.

I usually ask during the M&G. I express that I can get carried away at times because I love the doggies so much and how cute they are that I just cant resist. Some clients are more than happy with this, others will express that it's not necessary. Make it a point to ask this question during the M&G (assuming everything looks like it is going well)

I always send one update with photo a day, unless something significant or funny happens after that update, then I'll send a second. I try to make sure I'm sending them at convenient times. I also try to send them in whatever form the owner prefers (international travelers may not want text updates for example.)

I always wonder this too! But I always ask ahead of time and usually tell owners that I send lots of pictures (sometimes up to like 10 in a day), it kind of just depends on how cute the dog is and I just absolutely love to take pictures of dogs. I have only had 1 client that seemed kind of off put by the amount of pictures I sent which I found odd since he had a puppy and most puppy owners seem to be very attached to their dogs. But I try to make sure the pics are too similar or too generic when I send a lot. For one of my regulars she still likes to receive a couple of daily pictures even though I watch her dog almost a couple weeks per month. I definitely feel like most owners would be okay with less updates, but sometimes they are just missing out on the cutest moments haha

I usually ask at the meet. "Would you like updates every day or every couple of days" Most appreciate asking I will let me know then which they prefer.

For more needy clients I will update once a day usually around lunchtime with photos, videos, and a message statement. For normal clients or repeats it'll be every two days.

Personally I would not do multiple updates on the same day unless it was an emergency. One that's just annoying two it makes it seem like I'm unexperienced three I'm busy taking care of their dog..... I rather focus on making sure that their dog has a good time and is being exercised properly then whether or not I got the perfect picture.
