Why does my dog nibble?

My dog will start to nibble at my clothes and sometimes at her blanket. She only uses her front teeth, though. Why is she doing this?

My golden does it when I come into the room, He will pick up one of his stuffed animals, then after walking around with it for 5 minutes, he lies down and nibbles for a long time. I think it is a comfort thing, feel good pheromones are moving around in his body. He will do it to my clothes sometimes as well.

It could be considered a sign of affection & closeness as dogs explore with their mouths. Other possibilities include: teething, instigate play or seek attention, soothe allergies/dry skin/pain, relieve stress from boredom or separation anxiety, parasites, or hormonal imbalance.
