If you have a small breed that will fit in an airline approved (each airline has heir own allowed measurements) carrier that fits where your feet would be under the seat in front of row, another option is based on availability you may be able to book & purchase a ticket for your dog to join you in the cabin (totally restrained in the bag the entire time). There is usually a max. number of dogs allowed in the cabin and recent veterinary paperwork must be shown upon boarding as well as security checkpoints. Your vet may also prescribe a sedative with the guidance of no food or water a specified number of hours before takeoff until after you arrive at destination.
