Why is my dog itchy?

My dog has been scratching herself non-stop all day. Is she itchy because of the weather or is she allergic and reacting to something?? Should I give her something for this?

Depending on the size of a dog you can give them Benadryl. My dog has bad seasonal allergies and he takes 25mg Benadryl when his allergies flare up. Always ask the vet first before giving your dog any medications.

It could be allergies and the changing seasonal weather will high pollen counts can ring this on , as can mold, dust and dander. I'd suggest wiping her down, including paws and brushing fur, which may help. It also could be fleas or parasites, which cause some dogs to react to by itching/scratching.

Usually, I'd suggest contacting vet before administering medicine. For the mildest allergies, usually the dose is 1 MG per LB Benadryl or generic equivalent, twice a day.
