You can use original dawn detergent but be aware that it will dry their skin it. I only recommend dawn detergent when they dog is infested with fleas.

I used to work as a Veterinary Tech. We would bathe dogs that had been skunked with Dawn to remove oils from the skin(skunk spray adheres to the oil). Then rinse off the Dawn and wash with regular pet shampoo. Dogs should not be bathed more than once a month unless really dirty.

actually dawn works really good just make sure it has the duck on it

Most dish soap brands are not safe for dogs, particularly puppies. However, the Dawn breed of dish detergent is both safe for dogs and cats, and it gets rid of fleas. Just make sure to use caution when adjusting the amount you use based on the age, breed, and size of the dog.

OK let me start with this first the average dog should only be bathed every 4-5 weeks any more will cause dermatitis . My thoughts on most dog shampoos is that they come with either to many unneeded chemicals or dies or perfumes that are not necessary. Yes I can hear all of you what about if my dog is infested with ticks or lice or fleas, Well a couple of cans of tomato juice will kill any live parasites on them because of the vinegar in it. Then dawn cut with water 1:1 mix is OK. or you can also use the classic soap of Madge Palmolive again cut 1:1 water to soap. But for me nothing works better than the plain old white bar of Ivory It is the least likely to cause any kind of skin irritation It is generally recommended to be safe enough for new born babies

Vets do not recommend using dish soaps that are not approved to be used on animals and which were not safety tested, especially on young animals.

I recommend original dawn dishsoap for dogs at bathtime. Kills fleas and ticks immediately and gets extra sudsy to clean away dirt and oils that cause dogs to stink. All my dogs have been cleaned with it over the years. Be careful to not get into the eyes ofcourse!
