What is the best age at which my dog should be spayed? Is there a minimum age or certain signs I should look for?

Good question. The best person to ask is your vet. The short answer is anytime after a couple months of age. Most vets spay starting around 5-6 months, but pediatric spaying between 2-6 months is becoming more common. It's usually recommended to get pups spayed before their first heat in order to prevent some health problems, but spaying at later ages can also still prevent health problems.
