Why does my dog lick paws?

There may be several possibilities. Most likely it could be due to allergens, especially pollen&mold picked up during walks. One tip to help reduce this is try to develop a routine of wiping down the paws with a disposable dog wipe or wet paper towel after walks.

Another related reason could be grooming of a foreign object that is embedded, including a bee or wasp sting, or fox tail, or a cut, cyst, or infection (look for redness, swelling, oozing and if you see this, please call your vet about a visit to alleviate the pain and problem before it worsens).

Sometimes licking is due to boredom, stress, or other behavioral reason.
