Why is my dog eating dirt?

There are a few possibilities. Dogs may like the smelly dirt, which also has minerals and maybe excrement from rabbits, squirrels, and birds. You definitely want to rule out the possibility of any dietary deficiency or underlying medical conditions such as a parasite. After that, make sure the dog is getting enough exercise and trained to not eat large amounts of dirt,etc.
