Something comes up and I need to drive out of town, can I leave a pet that's under my care with another sitter/family for a couple of days?

Not happened yet, but it might this summer. Can I leave a pet that's under my care for 30+ days with another sitter?

The pet is under your care not someone else's. If I left my pup in someone's care and he got shifted to someone else that I had not met or approved, there would be heck to pay. If you suspect that you may not be able to fulfill a Stay to completion it's best to speak with the pet parents' before the Stay begins, contact Rover (your agreement is also with Rover and this can affect insurance), and seriously consider marking yourself away this Summer before taking assignments to avoid creating a potentially stressful situation.

Just as we take time out of our day to do the M&G, pet parents are invested in them as well. To know that they went through the trouble of meeting you and choosing you only to find out that their pup would be left with someone completely different... that could be stressful and make them loose faith in the Rover platform.

I am marked away for the days I am out, but the owner reached out to me because of the quality and price of my services. I take care of pets like they are my family. They are also very well aware of the limitation. Can I split up the stay, have them book 2 sitters and I pick up/drop?

Yes. Since you know the dates, I would offer the owners the dates that you are available and have them select a secondary Sitter. Pet owners sometimes want to leave it all on us but if you've told them your limitations they need to figure out something for the other dates.

It's not your responsibility when you have clearly marked your availability. All the best

Maybe if you have a friend that's also a Rover sitter, talk to the owners and then do a meet and great with your dogs first and then you and the owners and pet go to your friends to do a meet/greet with them. But I sorta agree, if you're availability is marked, it's the owners call. Good luck!

In this situation, it might work out well if you tell the pet parents about your possible limited dates and ask if they would be comfortable splitting up the booking like that and discuss how/when/by whom their pet would transfer locations. That allows them to be in control of the care decision for their pet.

If instead, the situation was as emergency that resulted in the care needing to be transferred to another sitter, you'd contact rover support to help with that, and the owner to inform.
