I'm watching a dog that is acting very aggressive towards me whenever I'm in the home.

I'm watching a dog that is acting very aggressive towards me whenever I'm in the home. He hasn't bitten me or anything (yet) but he follows right up next to me and only allows me in certain rooms. So far, all I can do is come in and get his food in the kitchen, and leave again. The owner mentioned to me he was very aggressive to men, but was fine with woman, and I came over and met the dog twice with her home before we booked the stay, and he was fine and let me pet him then.. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. This dog is as big as me and I'm going into his house alone where he clearly doesn't want me. The owner will be back "during the day tomorrow". Suggestions.?

The dog is male, fixed, and 96 lbs. of mixed breed pit/mastiff/yellow lab something. About 3 years old.

Have you tried spending some time in the house instead of just coming to feed him? I had an experience like this, but I found if I just hung out in the living room and watched TV, or sat in the kitchen reading, or on my computer, the presence of me just being there helped the dog get used to me in his home.

I am so sorry! That is scary. I had a run in with a strong dog before. Now I wont take dogs where I cant defend myself. At least it just one more day.

Sorry to hear that! I actually had that happen with me myself at the very moment the owner answered her door. Pretty scary! Have you tried giving the dog any treats when you see him? That might be of help. Hope the stay gets better for you!
