Why does my dog sleep on my clothes?

Hello, Your dog might sleep on your clothes for a couple of reasons. He could be comfortable on them, as they are soft. They also probably smell like you, which can be comforting to your pet. It's like a security blanket for him!
They love your smell, and it gives them a sense of comfort! Also, they like having their scent on you as well.
Your dog sleeps on your clothes because it has your scent on them and it gives them a sense of comfort and safety to have you around. That is why as a dogsitter, I always recommend parents to leave a blanket or bed with me so that their pup has something with the scent of their home and pup parents so that they're comfortable with their new temporary environment.
Dogs's sense of smell is far more advanced than humans and they will find comfort in familiar smells more than we do. If you put out some new clothes and your dog will constantly sit on them, it could be either to show you they are in charge or simply to get your attention as I assume you will have some sort of reaction to them doing so. If they will sit on top of your clothes when you are away then it could very well mean that they miss you and they feel safe around anything that smells like you.
It is a familiar smell and if comforts them. Usually, the smellier the clothes the more they like it.

Yes that’s what I’m thinking too. I did have a dog that loved our laundry basket filled. No harm is done, don’t worry about it 😋
It's perfectly normal. Clothes present a sense of comfort because they have your scent and they're soft.
Also dogs seem to love their owners scent. They have very strong noses, so if doggie isn’t destroying anything, let him be 😉
My dog sleeps on my shoes to keep me from leaving the house. She is scary-smart.
