when i use a dog sitter in the past, she charged me for overnight and then when she came back to feed the dog the next day. How do we charge for this?

Every Rover sitter is an independent contractor and can pretty much set his/her own services, rates and how they're applied,

However--and this is a big however--Rover does lay out the categories and what the pet owner is entitled to. If a sitter decides to offer something other than what is described in the FAQ, then he/she should make it clear either in their profile or through messaging and meetings.

As you can see from the link below, there is no such thing as an "overnight" fee. Rover has house sitting and boarding, both of which are 24-hour, full-service care for pets. It doesn't mean that the sitter cannot go out during the day for an agreed-upon period of time, but it does mean the sitter is responsible for the house and the pet for the entire day and that includes walking and feeding. Because of the increased responsibility, house sitting should be considered a premium service and priced accordingly.

From the number of questions on this board about this subject, it is clear that many sitters have their own interpretations and choose to price in an a la carte manner. I only do boarding. The "nightly" fee covers it all, just as a "nightly" charge for house sitting should.

Overnights include a 24 hour period. This is typically one fee. I don't know the specifics of your situation. We are all independent contractors but again,house sitting is typically a 24 hour period.
