Why is my dog walking sideways?

There may be a dysfunction in the inner ear. Contact your veterinarian.

Im not one to waste time/money, but the dog should def go to the vet. Probably something very minor like an ear infection but needs to get treated

My dog walks sideways when she's wearing a harness, so it could be that too.

Because a dog's vestibular system is located within the inner ear, a vestibular event affects a dog's balance and therefore can lead to dizziness. ... Dogs often lean to one side as well as walk around in circles when their vestibular system is affected.

This sounds like it may be a neurological issue. Pup needs to see the vet immediately.

It is hard to interpret exactly what this could be based on the description, as when I hear "walking sideways" I think the animal is head tilting and walking abnormally. If this is the case, head tilting can be caused by vestibular disease and other neurological conditions. I would recommend taking this animal to the vet if there is a new head tilt and inappropriate walking pattern.

I would have them seen by a veterinarian ASAP. Ear infections can disturb balance as well as neurological problems only their doctor can diagnose

Hard to say as there are several causes. Sometimes can be a matter of anatomical defects other times there's perhaps some decompensation due to orthopedic or neurological issues. Here is some info: https://dogshealthproblems.com/dog-walking-sideways/ (https://dogshealthproblems.com/dog-wa...)

There are a few root causes to crabbing, sideways walking, or sideways running. Some people also refer to this behavior as side winding. ... Dogs all have different body types and this may be a reason behind this behavior. Another reason behind this unusual behavior could be that your dog's dominant legs are taking control.

It's called crabbing and is common to many breeds. Before you call your vet as some advice, please read this:
