Why does my dog go under the bed?

My dog keeps hiding under the bed and I'm really worried. It's not just at night, he hides under the bed during the day as well! He must be really scared of something. Anyone know how I can fix this??

My dog that I had for 2 months was I thought hiding under my bed after 2 months of very good rescue care. I keep my house on the cooler side in summer and also cool in winter. She was uncomfortable. Either too hot or too cold. That’s what I figured. No yelling or sickness. That’s my experience

Some dogs like to "cave" and I do have a couple pups that when they "mark" will go under the bed because they know they shouldn't have done that. That's my cue to check for damp/wet spots. I just clean up the spot and coax the dog(s) out to go for a walk. One of my repeat pet parents told me that their pup will do that if he "marks" and is a sign to look around for "the spot". But always hiding under the bed gives cause to be very concerned. I would strongly suggest having your veterinarian check for any health issues. Evaluate your home for any loud noises such as fire crackers, loud music/TV, etc. Dogs are very sensitive to their environment, i.e. people yelling. Lastly, observe your dog when being picked up from a pet sitter, kennel, etc. It may not be a good fit for your dog. Hopefully Not, but could also be a sign of abuse.

If you have any other pets in the house, the dog could be terrorized by an "alpha" pet.

That’s also very possible but I’d keep checking especially if it’s a new addition. No scolding please. Whatever happened you’ll eventually find out. I suggest a thorough Vet check up if it’s a house hold pet you’ve had awhile.
