What is the best dog shampoo?
Can you recommend a product that is not harmful to my dog's skin? I'm looking for something high quality because the cheaper shampoo's have left my dog's skin super dry.

I've been using EarthBath all natural oatmeal and aloe shampoo and conditioner. So far, I haven't had any problems and I like the scent a lot. The oatmeal and aloe are recommended by veterinarians to effectively combat skin irritation, promote healing, and re-moisturize dry skin. Also, EarthBath is 100% bio-degradable and cruelty free, soap free, gentle and effective (as per the description). There is about 10 varieties and cost ranges from about $12-$25. Hope this helps :)
We keep things simple and use Dawn soap. Our dog is a true digger and other products just don't seem to get all the dirt and muck off of him like Dawn does.
If you are having trouble finding the perfect shampoo, I would recommend talking to your vet. I like BP0-3 personally. They sell it on amazon, and it works wonders on black dogs, to give them a shiny coat. If you notice your dog is getting flaky you check to make sure its not something else like allergies. There are shampoos for that too!
Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Hypoallergenic Shampoo for Dogs and Cats. has been great for my dogs (one of them has allergy/skin issues. You can get it on Amazon and although there isn't an overwhelming scent, it certainly gets the job done without any ill side effects. I also used the anti-fungal shampoo from the same brand for a dog I fostered. He had flea-allergies and was recovering from mange but it seemed to work wonders for him.
Anything easy on the skin really - I have an oatmeal and milk based formula. Baby shampoo works as well!
Take a look at the listed ingredients. I always like to choose brands like Espree and Earthbath with simple natural ingredients. Their Oatmeal and Aloe Shampoos are great for itchy, sensitive dry skin.
The best I have used is Dermaplex. I can only find it online now. Not sure why no one sells it any more. It is great for dry skin, it smells great and my dogs coat is silky and soft after using it. My retriever that passed some years ago had flea allergies and it worked miracles for her.
