I work in the veterinary field. I've been a Vet Tech for 5 years and yes, there are a few zoonotic diseases (meaning they can be transmitted from pet to human or human to pet). If you are curious, it would be smart to look up "zoonotic disease" in Google to have an idea, but a few examples are: Leptospirosis, Scabies, Ringworm, etc. A common cold or upper respiratory type disease is not something you would need to be worried about transmitting.

No, human cold viruses aren't transmissible to dogs.

The common cold that we experience as humans is transmitted by viral infection that infiltrates our immune system through the cellular processes in our bodies. Good news for dogs -- their DNA is different than ours! That means that the viruses that affect us cannot affect them, and usually vise-versa (except for what's called zoonotic diseases like rabies).

Although there are several zoonotic disease humans can transmit to dogs and vice versa, cold is not one of them. Dogs get viruses from each other. But a cat can catch cold or flu from you.

The answer is no. While dog's can catch a cold, the virus can only be transmitted from other dogs.

Not from a human. But they can get bordetella which may have similar symptomes.
