Why does my dog hide her treats?

asked 2017-01-02 22:36:32 -0600

I've been working on training my dog to sit, but every time I give her a treat, instead of eating it, she takes it away and hides it somewhere. Any ideas why? Is that a bad sign? It kind of interrupts the training process.

Your dog most likely hides treats because she is saving it for later! My old dog used to do it all the time. She loved knowing that she had a treat and was able to keep it until she was ready for it. I would recommend small training treats for training purposes that way your dog will most likely eat it right away!
