What do you use in place of free grocery plastic bags to pick up dog poo?

Hi Janice: Yes, poop bags can get expensive, and I also supplement my stash with plastic bags from stores (some store bags are much better than others, aren't they?). Amazon runs sales on poop bags occasionally, so you can get a case of bags at a much lower rate than usual. If you haven't done so already, set up a Wish List on Amazon, and put some poop bag options on it. Then when they go on sale, you'll get an email about it. Also, you can check your local dollar store for some....they aren't as nice as others, but they do the job!

If you are needing ways to pick up feces from pups being at your home or business for daycare or boarding, I bought a stainless steel can, kids shovel, and a pooper-scooper to pick up feces and place in large 13 gal bag then place in dumpster.

For walks, I use grocery bags, bread bags, etc, anything that I buy groceries in that could be used the same.

Just remember, anything you buy for your rover business, you can claim on your taxes as business expense because you are an independent contractor with Rover

I don't like throwing away plastic so I buy biodegrabable bags on amazon which is a decent value

I purchase biodegradable bags and keep a supply, then charge them off as a business expense. Most often the clients provide them - which they should have available for you.

Similar to other sitters, I use doggy poop bags as well. In an effort to be frugal, I often order in bulk, through Amazon, or wait for a good Groupon deal. If you keep an eye on sales vs. waiting until you run out, you can save a considerable amount of money :). Just make sure you get bags of reasonable quality though - otherwise you may end up with a rip/tear and a poopy (hehe) time!

I buy poop bags in bulk from stores like Marshalls and Ross. They sell like 100 bags for like 4$ or 5$, but most of my clients provide poop bags already, so I usually don't have to worry about it.

Ask client to provide poop bags for their dog when you are walking or boarding.

In my own yard, I use a claw-style poop scooper. I have a small garbage can with a lid lined with a plastic bag. I put a little odor absorbing cheap cat litter in it to help with the smell. I walk around the yard, scoop the poop, dump it in the can. I throw it away after I am finished.

I'm a full time walker so my requirements for poop bags may be different than yours, but I use newspaper sleeves that I purchase from ULine, they aren't the cheapest, but I've found them easier to use and more reliable than many of the commercial poop bags on the market. I can almost always use them for 2 poops or more, and with walking clients multiples its less to carry around. (https://www.uline.com/Product/Product...)
