Overnight Stays at Clients Home?

So when you are doing an overnight for a week or more, how much time do you spend at the actual clients home? I work full time and have Drop In visits throughout the weekend so I'm not sure if most clients are expecting you to be there every waking hour as well as overnight or is it more a 10 to 12 hour overnight shift?

The length of time you stay at a client's home during a house sitting assignment is up to you and the clients. I use the client's home as my base of operations during the scheduled stay, but I always confirm at the M&G what the client's expectations are about my being in the home. Normally I explain that I will be there the majority of the time, and always full time after dark, but I may need to leave to check on my house, run a few errands, do drop in visits if needed, and go to church on Sunday.

Some sitters have posted that their overnight/house sitting stay is 12 hours (7/8 pm - 7/8 am) with a drop in visit during the day.

HI Stacey: I basically live in the client's home throughout the stay. But I do leave to take care of other client's dogs, and stop home every day to take care of my own. I would never accept a request to house sit for a client that expects me to be in their home 24 hours a day, as I have other client needs all of the time. And I'm also the primary caregiver to my own dog and my own home.
