Do dog walkers need to be tipped?

New to Rover, and my second sitter was expecting to be tipped.

I wasn't going to give a tip for this since I already paid the 10-14 dollars for them to walk my dog. Is this common practice to tip, or is it against TOS to tip?

Hi, Dustin! It is inconsiderate of the walker you used to expect to be tipped, in my opinion. Their rates should be set accordingly to cover the cost of their care, travel time, and gas expenses and shouldn't expect anything in addition! It is acceptable to tip your sitter if you feel that they have exceeded your expectations with their services, but is not required by any means.

Yeah, I just..don't understand why people expect it. Is there anyway to report this experience to Rover or someone?

You could contact Rover Support at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team] if you felt you needed to share your experience with that particular sitter.

I wish there was a way to like live chat with someone from Rover. I am still undecided on if I want to even leave a review.

My guess is the Sitter would like to know that you perceived they were expecting a tip and that you felt it was inappropriate. BTW what did the person do to indicate they were expecting a tip?

I wasn't the one who met her at the door as she came back with my puppy. It was my mom. Sadly, she didn't give very much details on it when I kept asking. I do know my first sitter on here was wonderful

What price did the walker (or is she a sitter) set for walking on her profile? $10-$14 is very low.

I believe the prices vary by location. The average where I live is $15/walk, but newer sitters have their rates lower in order to attract their first clients.

I was wondering why he said $10-14 dollars. I wonder if there was a miscommunication

It was $10 from the latest sitter, the sitters here are around 10 to 15 dollars, sometimes more.
