Security/safety of the sitters with new "report" cards?

I have emailed rover's webinar address several times asking questions about the report cards after I participated in the webinar not to long ago and still have not gotten a response. I am very uncomfortable using the new feature without my questions being answered. I do doggy day care with multiple clients and, as I understand it, rover wants me to start the dog walks (notifying the client immediately with a text) whenever I go to walk them. Thus giving the client my exact whereabouts and routines. I have asked Rover what is required from the clients when they sign up (like a background check)..??? I feel this is a huge safety issue for the sitters, I don't know my clients beyond our dog chit chat and feel letting them know my exact location and routines could be dangerous.

Great point. (Beyond just being micromanaged as an independent contractor.)

Have you gotten your questions answered from the webinar? I just did recently. I agree that I don't like being tracked by GPS from Rover as long as I'm logged into my app! I stay logged in so I can be notified of any requests or messages from current clients. I have not gotten notifications from current clients via my app since the new launch, but I do get reminders to START a walk before I even park my car near the client's house! Can anyone say BIG BROTHER?

This was the reply... "In terms of safety concerns, that is an interesting thought. My thinking there is that it doesn't provide much more information than they'd already have when setting up a meet and greet, for example. As always, we suggest doing meet and greets to ensure that it is a good fit"

... An interesting thought?? All these people working for rover and safety about a new feature is an.. Interesting thought!?! And it clearly provides WAY more info than a meet and greet.

I agree!

This is unacceptable monitoring of our activities. I really don't need clients looking over my shoulder, checking my every move and whereabouts!

For this reason, I didn't upgrade the app for a while and kept a backup copy.

I hope this will be only an optional feature or something to create trust when you start as a sitter for say; the first 10 clients. I don't think experienced sitters with dozens of satisfied 5-star ratings/clients need to be micromanaged.

Both my mother and I are Rover sitters and completely agree with these concerns. As well as not getting paid if there's any glitch in the system, something I've experienced first hand. I would like to know the exact date this goes into effect so that I know when to discontinue these services.

Hi all, I've been looking for comments on this. I've been doing this for a year and a half and I have about 40 5 star reviews. My Rover card did not send for a new client who was already nervous and now I'm fairly convinced they don't trust me. It's a horrible feeling.

My reasons for doing Rover sitting are that I like keeping busy, meeting new dogs, and helping families know that their dogs are in good hands. The level of monitoring and the fact that it is glitchy is not helping me or the client. This family texted me at 2am thinking I hadn't checked on their dog
