I haven't got any bookings yet, I've posted to facebook, craigslist, the neighborhood site, and still nothing. I've been on here for almost a month?

I haven't got any bookings yet. how long does it take?

Comments

It took me about 3-4 weeks to get 2-3 bookings, BUT my profile is long, as well as properly informative. Also, try to see if you can start by advertising walks prior to the more heavy commitments and people will use that continuously.

Hi Lori! Sometimes it takes awhile to get bookings. You are on the first page of sitters for your area (#14), which is a plus. Your profile could use more photos of your home and the fenced-in yard. Potential customers do like to get an idea of what kind of place their dogs will stay before contacting you and requesting a Meet & Greet. Also, perhaps a little more detail on activities and things you usually do with dogs, aside from the dog park. Since Labor Day is right around the corner, you may just get a last-minute booking.

Honestly, get a friend or someone to let you do a walk or overnight. have them use your promo code and give you a 5 star verified visit rating. make sure to take a picture and post through the ap. do everything even correspondence through the ap. After you get that 5 star on your profile it will be easier to pick up new clients. Also make sure you take Rover 101. it adds a badge to your profile and you get a promo code for a free box of business cards through the rover store.

Take your business cards everywhere. I pass out a ton at the dog park and when I go to petCo and such.

Just be patient. Many of us here have other jobs, so we simply activated a profile and hoped for the best. I live in a VERY rural area, and I'm the only Rover sitter in my town, and I've booked about one stay a month. Most of your clients will be repeat customers, so it just takes time to get word out. Be patient and stock up on those toys in the mean time.

I'm in the exact same situation. I posted EVERYWHERE: facebook, craigslist, google business, bing places, and the neighborhood site. A month later and nothing; until three days ago, and suddenly I've gotten three hits with repeat requests. Honestly, all I can say is don't give up. Regularly post your availability; promote your facebook page, ask family with pets who've you met to give positive reinforcement on your Rover page. My sister is the only one whose done that for me. Post Rover advice and information about common questions on your other sites. It's really just a waiting game. I think the only reason I've gotten hits (I live in a rural area) is because I keep my prices lower than I'd like, just so I'm cheaper than the competition. Good luck!

I agree with the comments on your profile. Go back through the questions and fill them out as completely as possible. As a pet owner, what would you want to know about someone who will be keeping your dog? Check rates for other sitters in your area to make sure you are at or below the average. Price yourself $2-3 lower at first, then gradually raise your prices as you get clients. If there are a lot of sitters in your area it may take awhile for you to get noticed.

I found that fall for me was a slow time last year. With kids going back to school, many families won't be traveling until the holidays. You may get calls from retired people or those without children who travel in the fall, though. Just be patient, it will happen.
