How can Customers book past calendar availability?

This is maybe better positioned as feedback and less of a question, but I recently had a Client request to book over Christmas, which is 2 and a half weeks past the current calendar availability. While I expect to be available, it seems a little odd that a client can book before I have the ability to set my availability. This may already be known or have been brought up, but I'd suggest either sitters have the option of adjusting their calendar as far out as a client can book, or client cannot book beyond the sitter's ability to update calendar.

I think another sitter had posted a similar question about someone trying to book New Years. I agree that it seems backwards that clients can request to book before a sitter can update the calendar. I would hope that in that situation, turning down the request wouldn't hurt your ratings, similar to how requests that don't meet your requirements won't. I think suggestions for the other sitter were to tell the client that they don't book more than X months in advance; maybe that's something to list on our profiles?

Yes, at this point, all you can do is archive the request. But I would let the client know that you aren't sure of your availability that far out, but can get back to them once you know for sure.....then be sure to follow up!
