What's wrong with my dog's leg?
I think my dog had a charley horse yesterday - is that possible? We just moved, so he's been on mostly hard floors or thin blankets. (We put down a bunch more blankets after this happened.) He was lying there and then just got up and started whining while holding is back left leg off the ground. It didn't hurt him when I touched it and massaged it. No cuts or anything visibly wrong. Awhile later he did it again to a milder degree. Now his leg is kind of stiff and he doesn't put all his weight on it. Sometimes he's hesitant to get up and/or go outside, other times he walks just find for a little while. I'm worried that if I don't do something, it may become a permanent problem. Is there anything I should do? What would happen if I didn't do anything? Should I let him rest as much as he wants or encourage him to walk around to keep the blood moving and healing? Any ideas are helpful. My dog is about 10 years old, in great shape, mixed breed (pit/lab?).
