Is anyone experiencing a problem with people asking to schedule a meet and greet in hot weather?

Hi,

I received a boarding request even though I marked myself as unavailable. The problem is this I don't feel it is safe when we are experiencing extreme heat to have a meet and greet. I initiially brought this to her attention. I had come out and asked if she wanted to schedule it after the "heat wave" is over. I assumed she would realize that it was for the dogs comfort. In my neighborhood there is barely any trees because of the ash borer sp? She made a remark about herself instead. My husband and I tried for Sunday evening. It's still going to be too hot. We did exchange numbers. Since I've experienced some parents responses that are not very kind, I was afraid to tell her that I meant the dog not her.

Wow, if we in Texas waited to schedule M&G after the hot weather broke, none of us would be working for about 6 months :-) It gets into the 90s in May and here in Dallas the average temps in July - September are 95-100+, not to mention the heat index which has been as high as 110 already.

What I do is try to schedule the M&G early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the hottest part of the day.

Ha! We just got back from a week in Dallas. You all are accustomed to that heat but I could barely breathe! Here in the midwest we are much less tolerant. Speaking for myself, give me the cold any day! :-)

Yes, we are accustomed to having the heat, but I still don't like it. Thank goodness for Air Conditioning! I pretty much stay inside during the vast majority of the day during the summer. I guess with the cold you can bundle up but there's only so much clothes to take off before getting arrested :-)

I live in Texas, and I would be out of business if I waited until the temperatures drop! The dogs will not be as comfortable, but a short meet and greet will be just fine as long as plenty of water is provided, temps are below about 95 degrees, and you don't have them out for more than an hour. They will be hot, but it won't bother them too much. If you walk them, make the walk shorter. Just reduce the time, you don't need to cancel and potentially lose customers.

I just sent this to a M&G that was scheduled for today:

Hi,

Because it is going to be SOOOO hot today, I wondered if you would like to reschedule our Meet and Greet for sometime next week, after the weather breaks.

Meet and Greets take place primarily in my back yard, where the dogs have an open and safe place to get acquainted. I just want to make sure they are comfortable.

I am free most of next week; today is still fine, too. Let me know what you would like to do!

I think she already assumes that the dog is going to be ok. When I initially asked, the remark was "I'm retired, I won't melt" with a smily face. I'm not comfortable with the heat and I don't want the dog to be exposed either. Should I just let her know via text that I need to cancel the M&G ?

As part of my meet and greets, I usually take the dog outside for a walk to see how they do with Because it is going to be SOOOO hot out, I would be happy to reschedule the Meet and Greet for sometime next week, after the weather breaks. I just want to make sure Pepper is comfortable.
