When does Rover charge credit card?

A client wants to book a stay in August, and few months away. If she enters her credit card number now and books the stay, does Rover put a hold on the credit card until the stay?

From Rover's Help:

When will I be charged for a service?

Your card is charged at the time of booking, similar to reserving a hotel or flight. Please note that while your card is debited at the time of booking, Rover holds onto the funds and releases them to the sitter two days after the stay or service is complete.

how does it work if you are doing dog walking. I have a client whose dog I will be walking every Monday for about 2.5 months. Does she pay for all the visits in advance? Do I get paid 2 days after the last dog walk (i.e. June 8 is last dog walk--So I'm paid June 10?)

If the booking is made for all the dates, then not only does she pay for it in advance, you won't get paid until the final walk is done 2.5 months later. My advice is to have her split up the request, so you get paid in a timely fashion. Maybe one request for three weeks' worth of walks.

Rover's policy concerning payments in advance just encourages people to work off the books. A more honest approach by Rover might help the business grow. The current policy lacks foresight. As a software engineer you can do a better job or configuration.

Most hotels don't actually charge your card until you check out.
