30 minutes at a minimum, That's how they are billed. You ultimately determine the amount of time, but it should be stated explicitly in your profile if it deviates from Rover's guideline shown here:

The amount of time covered by the sitter’s rate depends on the service being offered:

  • Dog Boarding and House Sitting are both per night, up to 24 hours.
  • Dog Walking is per 30-minute walk.
  • Drop-In Visits are per 30-minute visit.
  • Doggy Day Care is per day, dropping off around 7-9am and picking up around 4-6pm.

Rover offers sitters and pet parents the flexibility to customize their experience. So while these are our recommended guidelines, you and your sitter may agree on something different depending on the situation. It’s all about what’s best for you and your dog.

I do dog walking for a local company as well as Rover, and they charge the client for a 30-minute visit. That includes a 20 minute walk and 5-10 minutes to fill out a little report card, play with the dog, and refill any food or water bowls if requested. I use the same time limits for my Rover walks as well.

I always spend atleast 30 mins with my dog walking clients...including feeding, play time and walking.
