When dogs are rescued, they need extra support to recover. That’s where Luvable Dog Rescue comes in. The beautiful facility in Eugene, Oregon may just be the most adorable port in a storm for dogs that need a soft landing. The design is stunning, and based on research about what makes the most comfortable home environment for dogs. You’ve gotta see these photos.
Luvable also emphasizes the extra daily engagement and activity that bully breeds (their specialty) need to stay relaxed and happy. The 55-acre facility features miles of trails, play fields, and adorable cottages filled with cozy beds, TVs, and warm lighting.
This kinder, gentler setting is intended to help the dogs recover from emotional trauma, and also help ease their transition into permanent homes when they find their forever family.
Leisl Wilhardt, executive of Luvable, coined the rescue’s motto “Place, Pack, and Purpose.” “Place,” of course, refers to the beautiful facility Leisl founded 15 years ago. “Pack” isn’t just about dogs hanging out with other dogs, but also about making sure every dog gets lots of human attention. “Purpose” alludes to the companionship and unconditional love humans and dogs so often share.
Luvable dog rescue is generally home to 20-30 small dogs and 5-7 pit bulls from high-kill shelters around the West Coast. There are nursery cabins for pregnant moms, shared housing for groups of small dogs, and a larger cottage for big dogs to live communally.
