The Boise State Broncos have been using trained dogs to retrieve kickoff tees since the ’90s. The dogs used for this entertaining role have been mostly Labradors, and a rarer hunting breed known as the Pudelpointer. The tee dogs are trained in field retrieving and practice regularly in fields and rivers.

The current Boise Tee Dog is a retriever named Kohl, trained by Positive Pets Boise. Kohl will appear at all Boise home games this season.
However, if the ball makes it back to the endzone where the kickoff happened, a human kid sometimes steps in, as the players can be distracting even for a highly-trained tee-retrieving specialist.
