Rover Now Harness Test FAQ
Preparing For Your Test
- How should I prepare for my test?
- We’ve put together a helpful post on how to put each of the harnesses on correctly here. If you need extra guidance, we also recommend visiting your local pet store and asking staff for tips.
- Will the harnesses at my test be the same as the ones shown in the training videos?
- While the harnesses at your test may be different brands or colors, the mechanics of how to secure them correctly will be exactly the same.
- Do I have to get all five harnesses on correctly to pass?
- Yes, so be sure to review our blog post.
- Why aren’t there more test date/time options listed?
- We prioritize weekday test sessions during business hours as we’ve found that most Rover Now requests come through at those times. We add new dates to our calendar frequently, so keep checking the calendar link that’s been texted and emailed to you.
- Why aren’t there more test locations for me to choose from?
- We choose locations that are centrally located near public transportation and accessible to people around the city. We do our best to accommodate, but can’t guarantee it’ll be convenient for everyone.
- I have to cancel my test and/or reschedule for another date. What do I do?
- Your confirmation email has a link that will allow you to reschedule. You can also reach out to the certification team at rovernow@rover.com if you need additional assistance. Keep in mind that cancelling your test within 2 hours of your test time may disqualify you from becoming a Rover Now certified, so it’s best to cancel your test as soon as you know you won’t be able to make it.
- What happens if I don’t attend my test?
- This may disqualify you from becoming Rover Now certified (all no-show incidents are up for review and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis). If you know you won’t be able to make your test ahead of time, be sure to cancel it as soon as possible.
Taking Your Test
- How long will the test take?
- Tests take about 5-10 minutes to complete and are one on one. Multiple people can sign up for the same time slot, so you may need to wait up to 30 minutes for your turn.
- What do I need to bring with me?
- A valid (ie: not expired), government issued photo ID.
- Can I bring my own dog with me?
- No, pets (including service/emotional support animals) are not allowed to attend the in-person harness test. This is to ensure your personal safety and the safety of your service/emotional support animal.
- Where will my test be held? Will it be at a Rover office?
- Your test will be held at a local co-working space and not a Rover office (Rover signage will be limited). There may be other members and companies in the space, so please be respectful while you wait. Be sure to thoroughly read your confirmation email for instructions on how to find, enter, and check in to the location on the day of your test.
- Where can I park?
- We can’t guarantee the availability of parking in the area, so we strongly suggest searching online for options before your test date. We also recommend using public transportation or rideshare apps. Remember: Rover does not validate or reimburse for parking.
- Who will be testing me?
- You’ll be tested by one of our trained harness test administrators. They won’t be able to give you any hints (so come prepared!) or share your results with you on the day of.
- Why can’t I get my results today?
- Our team processes a large volume of harness test results, and we do a holistic review of each person’s progress in the certification process so that we can let them know what their specific next steps are.
After Your Test
- What happens after I’ve taken my test?
- Your results and next steps will be sent within two business days via text and email. You’ll also receive an online survey asking about your test experience with Rover.
- I failed my first try. What are my options?
- You have one more chance to try again. You’ll need to schedule another test with us and this time you’ll only need to redo the harness(es) that you missed.
- I have more questions. Who can I contact?
- You can email rovernow@rover.com with questions related to your Rover Now certification.
