When over a thousand dogs come together under one roof, that’s something to woof about!Seattle dogs and dog lovers experienced a fun filled day at the 2011 PAWS walk a few weeks ago and helped raise over $120,000 for the PAWS cause.A big thank you and “High Paw” to Eleanor Blackford, the Events Coordinator for PAWS, and her crew for pulling off a first class event.
Rover.com sponsored a booth and had over 150 dogs, dog parents, dog sitters, dog walkers and those thinking about owning a dog come by to see what we were up to. Many dog parents were inspired by the possibilities around providing a loving home for their dogs vs. staying in a kennel. There were also people who signed up with Rover.com to become a host home, help out other dog owners and make some extra “bones”! Rover is an online community of Seattle dog owners & Seattle dog sitters who care for each other’s dogs as if they were our own.Rover can provide both a loving home for your dog while you are away or allow you to be a host home for other Rover members!
We have to mention our booth sponsors who donated some great prizes for the Rover contest. A big thank you to Kyle and his crew at Blue Dog Bakery for providing dog treats! Since 1998, Blue Dog Bakery has baked up Seattle’s #1 premium treats with 100% pure and natural ingredients. Visit Bluedog Bakery for more information. The Maxwell Hotel, Seattle’s premier pet-friendly hotel offering deluxe rooms with doggy beds donated a one night package. Visit The Maxwell Hotel to learn more! And Dave with Animal House Builders built a modern, custom dog house and donated it to the PAWS Auction.
And finally…a true story. We met Jane at the Rover PAWSwalk booth. She told us she had to cancel her anniversary plans with her husband for lack of a trusted Seattle dog boarding location. While at the Rover booth, she met someone in her neighborhood who was available and the rest is history! Jane booked a host home on Rover.com for $25 a night and was on her way to anniversary celebration. Watch the video here: “Jane finds a loving home for Duke at Rover.com.”
