Rover.com Reveals Rapid Adoption of Its Expanded Pet Services
The Leader in Overnight Dog Care Sees Its Day Care Business Grow 2700%
SEATTLE (April 3, 2015) – Rover.com, the nation’s largest network of dog lovers for hire, announces explosive growth in the adoption of its broader suite of pet services, which were launched two years ago this month.
Rover.com was founded to help as many people as possible experience the love of a dog. The company initially approached this mission by making it easier for pet owners to find an overnight dog sitter. Rover then quickly added the ability to find and book a broad range of services to support pet owners with a variety of needs. Currently, more than 50% of sitters listed on Rover offer multiple services. The most common include: doggie day care, dog walking, grooming, training and cat care.
In fact, Rover now has pet owners using those services in more than 1,250 cities across the United States. The most popular service, day care, saw bookings increase a staggering 2700% year over year.
“Our mission is to give everyone the opportunity to experience the joy of pet parenting. Concerns over what to do with your pet when traveling are a major impediment to people adopting loving animals, but that is by no means the only barrier,” stated Aaron Easterly, CEO, Rover.com. “Since launching, we saw that our customers started relying on the Rover community for a broader set of services. We are excited to continue to evolve our platform to meet the unique needs of modern pet parents.”
Rover’s growth is seen in every aspect of its business. Currently, the company has about 10,000 new members joining every week. The company also recently announced that sitting revenue booked on Rover is 5X the prior year, and repeat transactions are growing even faster.
“We are excited to see the adoption of our broader pet care services, but our core offering continues to flourish,” said Jason Kreitzer, Vice President of Product Management, Rover.com. “We are on track to book millions of nights this year alone.”
Demand will increase even faster heading into summer. While Rover has already connected pet owners to more than 40,000 caretakers, the company is looking to double its active sitters between now and the peak summer travel season. Rover is encouraging dog lovers who are interested in becoming sitters to apply now at rover.com/become-a-sitter. Sitters using the Rover platform can make $25–$60 per night for each dog they watch, and can earn upwards of $2,000–$5,000 per month.
Rover recently announced a $25 million financing round. The company will use the funding to add new services and make additional updates to the platform.
Rover.com connects dog owners with a nationwide network of dog lovers for hire. Founded on the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the unconditional love of a dog, Rover makes it easy for dog owners throughout the U.S. to reach sitters who offer in-home boarding, pet sitting, dog walking, and day care. More than 92% of the population lives within a short drive of a sitter who has listed their services on Rover. More than a million nights have been booked through Rover and 95% of reviewed stays have received a perfect five-star rating. In addition to connecting pet owners with sitters, the Rover platform offers complimentary premium insurance for all services booked through Rover, access to 24/7 vet consultation, mobile apps, photo sharing, videos of stay highlights, and optional sitter background checks.
