When Carla Rickert adopted Mochi the Saint Bernard from Big Dogs Huge Paws, she knew Mo was a special girl. It turns out, however, that she had no idea just how unique Mochi was.
When Mochi settled into her forever home, it quickly became apparent that she had a particularly long tongue. So long, in fact, it makes it a little hard for the dog to pick things up off the floor, it gets covered in dirt and leaves in the garden, and it keeps her in constant drool mode.
Guinness Record Holder Mochi
Mochi’s family loves her all the more for her unique attribute. They brought the dog in to have her tongue officially measured by a vet, and were tickled to find she is the current record holder for longest tongue.
Mochi’s tongue measures a generous 7.31 inches from snoot to tip. The longest dog tongue of all time was an astonishing 1 foot five inches, and belonged to a boxer dog named Brandy.
Mom Carol wants to use Mochi’s claim to fame to spread the good word about rescues. “With this record, we hope to bring attention to how much joy rescued animals can bring to their new family.”
Mochi was recently featured in a new book by Guinness World Records called Amazing Animals, a perfect gift for pet-loving kids.
